The Ministry of Communication and Informatics Indonesia collaborates with EC-Council, the leading global training certification body, to facilitate training in various cybersecurity domains under the Digital Talent Scholarship Program 2021.
Jakarta, Indonesia, October 4th, 2021: To address the growing digital skills gap, Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Informatics has partnered with EC-Council to offer 1000 student scholarships for cybersecurity training and certification through its annual Digital Talent Scholarship Program. This year, the program scholarship will be awarded to fresh graduates and previous year’s graduates from universities and vocational schools nationwide to aid them in pursuing professional competencies in information technology and related fields.
The Ministry of Communication and Informatics introduced the scholarship program for Indonesian talent in 2018 to encourage participation in digital training programs and contribute to the growth of the digital economy. The Ministry of Communication and Informatics aims to create a balanced and collaborative ecosystem among the government, communities and society, higher education institutions, and the media to expedite digital transformation. The collaboration of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics and EC-Council will facilitate cybersecurity training to reduce the digital talent drought in Indonesia.
Tin Tin Hadijanto, Country Manager for EC-Council Indonesia, said, “The cybersecurity talent shortage is alarming in the wake of the growing cybercrime exacerbated by the pandemic. To meet specific in-demand cybersecurity skills, we need qualified and skilled professionals. We understand the challenge of finding suitable candidates with industry-specific skills. With the Digital Talent Scholarship Program, we aim to offer core expertise and knowledge to awardees and present them with the opportunity to acquire job-ready skills and fill open cybersecurity positions.”
Hary Budiarto, Head of Research and Human Resources Development Agency at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, noted that, “With the Digital Talent Scholarship Program, we are focusing on expanding the scope of digital talent for future ICT development, along with the directive of President Joko Widodo to accelerate digital transformation.”
The training program, which closed its registration date on September 9, 2021, received an enormous number of nominations for the training session, with more than 1,782 interested participants. The Ministry of Communication and Informatics presided over a difficult selection procedure to identify 1,000 students to attend the cybersecurity training. Additionally, candidates who cleared the second round of selection criteria will now receive the International Certification Scholarship from the Ministry of Communication and Informatics.
In collaboration with their authorized academic partners, Synergy Academy and Metrodata Academy, EC-Council implemented online training from October 4 to October 16, 2021, guided by more than 20 EC-Council Certified Instructors/Practitioners. Recipients of this scholarship were trained in the various facets of cybersecurity, including security awareness, network security and defense, secure application development, security operations centers, incident handling, and more.
EC-Council’s training curriculum aims to impart cybersecurity education and skills to students in a methodological learning environment that can help facilitate a career in cybersecurity and contribute to future ICT development.
