Vietnam, October 9, 2021 – EC-Council co-sponsors the awards for the winners of ASEAN Student Contest on Information Security (ASCIS) along with Wissen. The contest is an integral activity of the annual event, “Vietnam Information Security Day” organized by VNISA under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) and the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) of Vietnam. ASCIS is a Capture the Flag contest for students from institutes of higher education in ASEAN. The warm-up round of the contest will be held on October 9, 2021, while the preliminary and final rounds shall be held on October 16, 2021 and November 13, 2021 respectively.  

The organizer, VNISA, is Vietnam’s first non-profit entity working in information security actively involved in spreading awareness and providing a learning platform for the cybersecurity leaders of tomorrow. Underlining the importance of this event for the region, Mr. Hung, the Vice Chairman of VNISA says, “This contest is a key activity of the annual Vietnam Information Security Day event. Organized by the Vietnam Information Security Association (VNISA), aiming to enhance ASEAN students’ knowledge, teamwork, skills, and experience in cybersecurity through the Capture the Flag (CTF) competition. 

Commenting on the sponsorship, Breyvan Tan, Managing Director of Wissen International, says, “We are very honored to be selected as one of the only two sponsors for the contest. As Vietnam is one of our top growth partners in the number of EC-Council certifications in 2020, we have high expectations in the country for EC-Council certification growth for 2021 and in upcoming years!”

EC-Council will offer the opportunity to each of the members of the top 5 teams in the 24-hour online live pentesting exam. Upon passing the exam, all players will receive one or two world-recognized credentials – the C|PENT certification and Licensed Penetration Tester (LPT) – depending on their score in the exam. Additionally, an education voucher worth $200 will be awarded to all 76 students present in the final round to sign up for any of the EC-Council Self-Paced eLearning certification courses with Wissen, including C|ND, C|EH, C|PENT, C|HFI, CBP, and DRP. These courses come with the official e-courseware, instructor-led training modules, CyberQ labs, certificates of completion, and exam vouchers.  

The 14th year of the contest will help in raising awareness and highlighting new talent in cybersecurity.
